Let’s face it—the holiday season can be a stressful time of year. Whether you’re trying to find the perfect tree, looking for a gift for your family member that has everything, or hosting a holiday party, it can be hard to find time for your own personal wellbeing. Here are some tips to do just that this holiday season:

Make time for a hobby or something you enjoy:

  • Maybe it’s cooking a new meal or trying a new fitness class. It could be sitting down with a book you’ve been meaning to read or checking out a new movie that came out. Whatever it is, make sure you take time for something you really enjoy doing. Try actually putting it in your calendar to make sure you follow through with it.

Volunteer:

  • Giving back to others can be a very rewarding experience. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities in the area, especially around the holiday season. Visit www.volunteermatch.org/ or www.handsontwincities.org for a list of options in the Twin Cities area.

Plan a happy hour or night out with friends:

  • Connecting with people that you enjoy being around can be quite a stress releaser and creating time to laugh and release tension is essential during busy times. Set aside some time, even for an hour or so, where you can get together with friends to catch up.
